Intentions to rebrand Turkish Airlines
The Turkish president Erdoğan claimed that “Turkey” no longer exists in a speech he gave last week. He explains that the name of the nation is “Türkiye” worldwide. The president consequently rebranded the national airline in the same context and as part of the same branding effort. He thus declared that the word “Turkish Airlines” would be replaced with “Türk Hava Yolları” on the company’s airplanes.
The choice to rename the country Türkiye is a component of a more significant rebranding strategy under the direction of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The country’s brand value should increase on a global scale. Furthermore, “Türkiye” reflects Turkish culture and history, more importantly, according to President Erdoğan’s statement. Also included are Turks and the Turkish language. He explained that the intention was to give it a universal and distinctive personality.
