History

Eyupsultan was the first ottoman settlement established by the Turks outside the city’s walls after the conquest of Istanbul.

In the 17th Century, it became the main settlement area for refugees coming from Turkish communities. By that time, the construction of the factories started, and the area gained an important industrial value.

Meanwhile, the population growth and the continuous flow of pilgrims engendered the development of the shopping district around the mosque, and it is still active today.
